Keyboards

When playing keyboards on stage, I play a Kurzweil K2500 and an Alesis Ion.  I sometimes also use a Roland AX-1 portable keyboard.

Bass

When playing bass, I play an Ibanez Ergodyne bass and run it through a Roland V-Bass effects unit.  The V-Bass has the ability to emulate just about any bass, including upright, fretless and synth basses, not too mention organ, guitar and sound effects.  Since it also can mimic a variety of amps and speaker cabinets, I use a Peavey KB 100 Keyboard amp, which more accurately reflects the tone coming from my bass and effects.

Other Instruments

My guitar of choice is an Ovation Legend 12 string and I use Susato penny whistles.

My Studio

This is my home studio where I recorded 14 out of the 15 tracks on No Less Days

Pictures of my new studio will be up soon.  Here's a break down of the equipment:
  1. A Peavey DPM C8 Controller
  2. controls an Ensoniq SQR sound module
  3. and a Korg TR Rack sound Module.
  4.  I also use Ensoniq Mirage DSK
  5.  my Kurzweil 2500
  6. and my Alesis Ion.
  7. I have various electronic drums, including six Simmons pads
  8. that trigger an Alesis DM5 drum module.
  9. This all gets routed through a Samson PL 2404 mixer.
  10. Most of the effects I use are software based, but I do have a Digitech S200 effects processor (that includes a vocoder).
It is attached to the mixer through an auxiliary out and then routes back in.
  11. An Aardvark Aark 20/20 sound card is attached through another auxiliary out and return.
  12. The soundcard is inside my self-built Pentium 4*
  13. which runs Cakewalk Sonar (for audio recording and sequencing)
  14. and Finale (for notation).
  15. Lastly, an Alesis RA-100
  16. powers two Tannoy Reveal monitors.

*To make things slightly more complicated, 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 are all connected to the PC through MIDI connections as well.
